Auer cake wafers.
Auer Tortenecken - a gracious composition of classic Viennese confectionery.
In 1920, Rudolf Auer attempted to produce wafer-based cakes. Unfortunately, many of the cakes broke, creating a lot of waste, so he decided to sell what he saw as an unsuccessful product as “Tortenbruch” (“broken cake”). The demand for these cake fragments was surprisingly high – so high, in fact, that even more “broken” cakes had to be produced. So Rudolf Auer named his creations “Tortenecken” (“cake wedges”) and the first product under the Auer brand was born.
